Policies have community consensus and apply to all editors. Domotaurant Wiki strives to create a welcoming and fun environment for those who are civil to and assume good faith in others, seek consensus in discussions, and work toward the goal of creating an increasingly comprehensive database about everything related to Domotaurant.
Policies need to be approached with common sense; adhere to the spirit rather than the letter of the rules, and be prepared to ignore the rules on the rare occasions when they conflict with the goal of improving the wiki.
There are several file extensions that can be uploaded to Domotaurant Wiki, with the most common being .JPG and .PNG. Our recommended file extensions would be .JPGs, since it's easier to upload. But .PNG saves more data than .JPG, we honestly prefer both.
Animated .GIFs are disallowed due to their lack of purpose and distractive quality. If a still image is insufficient to illustrate the text it accompanies, then one should consider rewriting the text to better convey the intended message.
The use of too many images on the same article should also be avoided. Apart from the general consensus that it causes aesthetic problems, this practice also directly challenges the policy that we use images sparingly.
Users may use up as much as images they want on their user pages and talk pages. An image purposed to use in a sandbox is okay, but if you removed the file from the sandbox it will be deleted due to no use.
Signatures are generally required when making a post on a talk page. Despite the proliferation of communication modes on the wiki that needs signatures, they remain an important identifier for users on many of our site discussions. Their central purpose is to attribute discussion contributions to users, and should not attract undue attention.
Signatures are highly recommended to be on a page called User:[USERNAME]/Sig.
While it is not explicitly encouraged, signatures may be used as outlets for demonstrating the personality and creativity of individuals. However, when doing so, they may not:
- Fail to directly allude to the identity of the user
- Use colors that are difficult to read
- Use more than two images
- Use external links (links to non-Wikia sites)
In addition, if a signature contains an excessive amount of code and occupies too much space when editing, it will be required to be transcluded from the userspace.
There are several policies as to what type of pages can be created. Pages which fail to follow these policies will immediately face deletion.
- Articles that are galleries or repositories of images e.g. "Gallery of domo burgers" or "Gallery of mental hot domo dogs"
- Advertising, vandalism or spam without relevant content e.g. "See my cool site" or "Domo rockssss!"
- Articles that cannot possibly be attributed to reliable sources
- Redundant or otherwise useless templates
- Files that are unused, obsolete, or otherwise violate our image policy
